November Cash Mob a Success 2012

Had a successful CASH MOB yesterday and Beacon Books and Super Suppers! CASH MOBS are a national growing concept that has been adapted and put on every month by our particular group, Support NWPA Business. Support NWPA Business is a group that was founded in 2011 by: Debbie Swift of Scott Enterprises, Richard Smith of Crystal Point Productions, and Rebecca Wise of USANA, and me, Bob Lafaro from Mantsch-Lafaro Insurance. The process of having a CASH MOB involves choosing two locally-owned businesses and sending out a request to as many people as we can to stop down and spend money, any amount. The purpose is to get people to consider targeting locally-owned businesses first when they have the need to purchase a product or pay for a service.

With these two particularly locally-owned businesses for yesterday’s MOB, I learned that Beacon Books has a number of books published by people who reside in the Erie area. As a matter of fact, I had purchased a book several years ago from this store that was published by our former City Controller, Rick Schenker. In discussing this with the store manager yesterday, I found they use that same book in all of their religious-ed classes. I also found out that our second Mobbed business, Super Suppers, buys all of their products from locally owned businesses, such as Curtze Foods. She had even negotiated her initial contract with the franchise she used to do business with to allow her to buy all her equipment locally. A True local entrepreneur!!!

Our mission statement for Support NWPA Business is simple: No money, just a message….Buy Local.
